Etymology: the study of the history of words and how their form and meaning have changed over time.
Ellaology: the study of how Ella changes words and phrases to better fit a given situtation.
Ella definately has her own take on things. Especially words and phrases. She gets the basic idea of something and then proceeds to Ella-ize the word or concept. Allow me to elaborate.
Sharks are creatures with big pointy teeth that can bite. Ella refers to them as the ”sharps” that live in the ocean.
Toll roads have people sitting in booths that must be paid or you can’t use the road. Ella refers to these individuals as “trolls”. Recently heard driving through Chicage: Mama Mia, don’t forget to stop at the booth and pay the troll.” I must say, I have to agree.
Ella is facinated with breasts. Yours, mine, hers – doesn’t matter. And so at our house we spend A LOT of time talking about breasts: what they look like, who has them, the correct names for the parts of a breast. I do my best but I have this fear that she’s going to be changing clothes gym class and talking about her “nickels”.
The other night Ella and I were out running some errands when I announced that we had arrived at our final destination. Still in her car seat and bouncing with excitment about going in she yelled “Buckle me out Mama Mia! Buckle me out!
LOL! Too funny…. Jake, when he was Ella’s age, decided that only girls have “boobies”….so I asked him what boys had and he said “DUH mom! Boys have tipples” still makes me giggle! give Ella a big kiss for me!
